Welcome to Cora 2026

Cora 2026 is Vital’s standard WordPress Block Theme. You can customize it directly in WordPress using the Site Editor, or if you prefer to get your hands dirty you can extend it using a child theme. You’re in control!

Next Steps

Setup your Design System

To get started, you should get your core design system set up. If you’re working with a child theme, the best place to do that would be the theme.json file in that child theme folder, or if you’re just running Cora 2026 on its own you can customize the Typography, Color, and Block settings from Appearance > Editor in the backend.

Add Custom Blocks

Maybe you need to display a Rive Animation, or a Chart, or you want to embed a javascript-powered, science-based MMORPG about dragons? Use a Block for that! If you need to build a custom one, make sure it’s in the form of a plugin! Use npx @wordpress/create-block@latest in your terminal to get started (read more here). We also have a wide array of blocks ready to go in the Cora Plugin Directory, so make sure to check there to see if what you’re looking for already exists.

Build Patterns

Cora already comes with a hefty pattern library that should cover most of your basic needs, but if you need patterns that include custom blocks or specific styling/layout for this website, you might want to (and probably should) build custom patterns just for this site.

Build Templates

With a robust Design System and Pattern Library, the Templates should pretty much build themselves. In fact, you can use Cora Composer and they will literally build themselves if you want! Get started by going to Templates in the Site Editor.

Add Content

Once all your mise are en place, it’s time to start Page Building! You already setup a whole design system and pattern library, so you’re the expert now, just do what feels right. It’s all just regular WordPress, so if you’re feeling stuck there are certainly resources out there to help.
